On this final Friday of Women’s History Month, I would be remiss if I did not highlight just a few of the groundbreaking women with whom I’ve had the privilege of working and witnessing their meteoric rise. Please join me in celebrating these incredible women breaking new ground in their industries.

Chemise McCain, Austin Division President, KB Home

Recognized by the Austin Business Journal, as one of their “People on the Move in Austin”, Chemise is a groundbreaking woman with more than 20 years of homebuilding experience and is responsible for KB Home’s operations throughout the Austin region, from land acquisition and construction to sales and customer service. Chemise uses her superpowers as a relationship builder, achiever, and influencer to inspire her Awesome Austin team to excel and achieve goal after goal. On top of leading her industry as a groundbreaking “Woman in Construction”, Chemise is also raising a groundbreaking young woman who I know we’ll be reading incredible things about very shortly.

Congratulations on raising the bar, Chemise. It’s my honor to work with you.

Dominika Graham, Managing Principal, Salas O’Brien

Assuming the reigns this summer as a Managing Principal for the engineering firm Salas O’Brien, Dominika is a groundbreaking woman in a predominantly male-dominated industry. Fiercely intelligent, with a Master of Science in Construction Management & Marketing, Dominika has over 15 years of professional experience in project management and project engineering, providing solutions for the industrial manufacturing environment, including chemical, pharmaceutical, and food facilities. Activating her superpowers of intuition, collaboration, and future focus, Dominika leads teams, clients, contractors, and vendors at scales that sometimes seem incomprehensible to me. Dominika is also raising two groundbreaking young women with polar opposite personalities, who have a great role model to follow.

Congratulations on this latest milestone, Dominika. It’s my pleasure to be a mini-portion of your incredible success.

And last but not least, in the picture above, a group of women I’ve just recently had the opportunity to spend a little time with, the Human Resources team at KB Home. These 6 women (and their fearless leader) are responsible for all talent, compensation, and human resources functions and initiatives for the entire organization, all 21 Divisions! If that’s not a power team, I’m not sure what is.

And a special shout-out to the gentleman in this group of accomplished women, Mr. Tom Norton. Although this post is about groundbreaking women, it shouldn’t go unrecognized that women need allies who support, amplify, promote, and encourage their extraordinary talents along the journey. I’m personally grateful to have had Tom and several other women and men in my corner for the past 20+ years.

We have three days left in Women’s History Month, what Groundbreaking Women do you know? Make sure you tell them how awesome you think they are!
