Last week I wrote about HOW you can tap into your Emotional Intelligence and provided three tips for practicing your “likability factor”. If you missed that Thought Partner (and for goodness sake, what could have been more important!? 🤦🏻‍♀️ ) you can check it out here.

I received some great responses and outstanding questions related to that post this past week, so I’ve decided to address one of those questions today AND give you another tool you might find interesting to explore.

However, before I get to that, I would like to acknowledge one of the reasons I love this Thought Partner Network we have created. This group is more eclectic than you may realize and that diversity of experience and perspective is the lens I attempt to gaze through as I write these weekly musings. It’s why some topics and weeks may resonate more with you than others. That’s okay; I’ve always got next week!

This question came from a former senior consultant, turned full-time Mom, turned budding entrepreneur kicking off a brand new business venture and I thought it might be useful to share.

Said awesome woman asked…..

“Hey, Stacy! I’m not one of your fancy corporate clients, but if possible, could I pick your brain on some easy (and inexpensive) tools to get my small team and me started on ways we can explore where we are on the Emotional Intelligence spectrum? I know you offer assessments and things like that, but I’m looking for something a little less formal. And did I mention our cost-consciousness? Ha! Thanks so much for all the great tips and tricks each week. Love reading these with my morning coffee!”

My response to this awesome woman’s question…

1. THANK YOU for the response and the great question! I totally get it and I think I can help you out.

2. Fancy corporate client or not, a Thought Partner you are, and I’m thrilled to have you here every Friday!

3. There’s a Stevie Nicks and Dave Stewart song (extra points if you know who he is and the name of the incredible duo he was part of) called “Cheaper Than Free” and that’s what I’ve got for you. FREE! What’s cheaper than free? Not much.

Check out this FREE Emotional Intelligence Assessment from GlobaLeadership Foundation which you and your team can individually take to determine a quick placement as to where you may fall (scale of 1-10) in each of the Four Emotional Intelligence Domains – Social Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Management.

Is it the most thorough of assessments? No, because it doesn’t give you a tremendous amount of detail beyond simply providing you a score in each of the four areas, but it does give you a jumping-off point to see your most dominant domains and where you may want to dig a little deeper, possibly in another category. If this piques some interest in your team, you can always follow up with additional information from the book Emotional Intelligence 2.0. And if you still want more after, come back to me and we can do a deeper dive with one of the more in-depth assessments and trainings I offer – with or without the fancy, your choice.

So Thought Partner Network, I offer the same FREE EQ Assessment to you! Take 10 minutes and check it out.

You might surprise yourself. You might confirm your thoughts. It’s always fun to try new tools.

And what’s cheaper than free? Maybe play a little Stevie while you do. She’s always a great choice.

Happy Friday Partners!
