I recently shared the below graphic with a number of my executive coaching clients, used it to conclude several presentations for global leaders at Warner Brothers Discovery, and even texted it to a number of close friends. These occurrences were virtual, yet the reactions were all similar. Here are a few:

  • “YAAAAAAAAAAAS”
  • “OMG, YES”
  • Nodding of all the heads
  • Deep exhales
  • “THIS”
  • “ALL OF THIS”
  • and one “How did you know about last Wednesday?” HA!

See here’s the thing, I didn’t create this graphic; I stole it because it spoke to me and I knew it would speak to almost all of us. Thank you for creating this, Adam Grant.

Our best looks different each and every day, and that’s okay.
Our team’s best looks different each and every day, and that’s okay.

Days are supposed to look different. To believe our production and delivery look the same, are at the same pace, and must be measured in the same way is a recipe for burnout and offers no recovery or restoration.

If every day was sunny, our rivers, lakes, and ponds would dry up and our earth would scorch. If you measure your best days by only being sunny ones, you miss the opportunity to jump in a few puddles.

Enjoy YOUR best FRIDAY, partners.
