I will not lie to you; this week was a rough one in the House of Jackson.

We went BACK TO SCHOOL this week.
And not just any type of school, MIDDLE SCHOOL.

If you’ve experienced this transition already with a young person in or around your household, you probably know better than I what lies in wait for us – changing classes, lockers, physical education class while also forgetting to bring extra deodorant (😝), a slew of new teachers, tween hormones, etc… ACK! A bit of a rocky start, and yet we get a chance to start fresh again next week.

Maybe our week was not unlike your week.
Maybe your week wasn’t the greatest, and you get a chance to start fresh again next week, too.

With that in mind, and given this month’s focus on energy and energy management, let’s talk about how we can set ourselves up for a better week. How can we create the energy needed to be better prepared for next week?

We derive energy from focus.
So let’s get focused.

Do this:

Step 1: Review the week

  • What happened this week?
  • What did I do?
  • What worked?
  • What didn’t work?

Step 2: Create your Action Plan (Action plans are informed by the past, hence Step 1, yet carried out in the future.)

  • What do I want from this week?
  • What are two things I need to do to get those results?
  • What’s going to trip me up? (AKA get in the way of getting those results)
  • If I need it, who can help me?

I guarantee we’ll have a better week because we’re going to derive the energy we need by focusing on our action plan.

Will you?
